Veterinarian Clinic Website Case Study

Project overview

The product: West Seattle Veterinarian Clinic is an animal hospital that offers full service care for animals. Our goal is to make it easy for clients to make appointments online and get all the information they need for their pets.

The problem: There are many great veterinarian options out there. We know that our people are busy and want to an easy way for them to schedule apointments at their convenience and find useful information for their pets.

The goal: Create a user friendly website with clear navigation and offer online appointment scheduling.

My role: UX designer and researcher for the vet clinic website.

Responsibilities: Conduct interviews, user research, usability studies, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, design iterations and responsive design.

User research summary

I conducted user interviews and created affinity maps to understand the users and their needs. The user group consisted of adults with pets.

The research revealed that they would frequently book appointments online to accommodate their busy schedules.

Pain Points:
Experience: Pet owners want to have easy wasys to get information, tips and make appoinments.

Time: People are busy and want easy wasy to book appointments for their pets.

Ease of use: If a website is difficult to use people aren't going to use it. Having an intuitive website with all the information will help with users experience.

Design

Paper wireframes
I created some paper wireframes to quickly get ideas and screen iterations for my app. These would eventually become digital wireframes.

Digial wireframes

Though this process, I really started to think about how and what the user would want to see. I made sure to base screen designs on feedback and findings from the research.

Low-fidelity prototype
Using the digital wireframes, I created a low fidelity prototype. The main focus was to user test the schedule an appointment user flow.

Usability study findings

I ran a usability studies and these findings were able to help me with iterations of my low fidelity prototype to the high fidelity prototype.

Findings:
User don't want to click around to find the schedule an appointment feature.
Users want a confirmation so they know when they made the appointment.
User want helpful tips for their pets.

Refining the design

Mockups
In my low fidelity designs I didn't have a large button to schedule an appointent. I added this in my high fidelity designs.

Users from the usability study indicated that they would like to see a confirmation page after booking.

High-fidelity prototype

My high fidelity prototype takes the user through the schedule appointent process.
